A program that takes financial literacy seriously

LVHN is one of the few academic medical centers to develop a formal financial literacy curriculum specifically for residents. The MR FISCAL curriculum, developed within the Family Medicine program, addresses financial planning topics that most GME programs leave entirely to residents to navigate on their own.

That work is genuinely useful and reflects an institutional commitment to resident financial education that goes beyond what most programs provide. Two things are worth understanding before graduation, not after:

First, eligibility closes at the end of training.

Second, Guardian must be the first individual disability insurance application a trainee submits. An application to another carrier filed first can permanently affect access to this option. Underwriting often surfaces medical history residents did not know would matter. A past prescription, a lab result, a condition considered minor. A rated or modified offer from another carrier closes the GSI path for good.
